Colombian woman uses potato as contraceptive for birth control
A Colombian woman went to a clinic complaining of abdominal pain was found to have inserted a potato into her vagina two weeks earlier because she thought it could be used as a contraceptive.
The potato in question was found when doctors examined a 22-year-old woman in the town of Honda this week. The woman explained her mom told her that inserting a potato into her vagina could stop unwanted pregnancy.
“My mom told me that if I didn’t want to get pregnant, I should put a potato up there, and I believed her,” said the unidentified woman.
The woman left the potato in her hoohah for two weeks before she started experiencing intense discomfort in her lower abdomen. The spud had germinated and started sprouting roots inside the woman’s vagina.
When the nurse at the clinic first examined the girl, she was shocked to find roots coming out of the patient’s va-jay-jay.
Luckily for the young woman the potato was taken out without the need for surgery, and there should be no long term complications.
